Higher education institutions utilize Alertus Notification Beacons in academic, residential, recreational, and administrative environments.  Alertus Notification Beacons provide a reliabile means of communications when cellular/SMS messaging fails in emergencies due system capacity constraints.  In an academic area, Alertus Notification Beacons are non-disruptive.  In residence halls, occupants are alerted whether awake or sleeping.

Campuses typically deploy Alertus Notification Beacons in key locations of highest visibility and impact such as lobbies/administrative areas and elevator banks/stairwells/points of egress.  By reliably disseminating critical information across the entire campus footprint, the spread of word of mount communication is reduced from hundreds of people to only a few degrees of separation, to ensure everyone is alerted and notified accurately and timely.

Alertus Notification Beacons were designed to be scalable across a campus footprint, yet adaptable for any location by connecting the units to plasma displays and other AV equipment.  Placing just a couple units in each building can rapidly speed up dissemination of critical information and ensure accuracy.  There are no contact databases to maintain, and students and staff receive localized alerts when cell phones are silenced or the cell tower networks become constrained.  With Alertus Notification Beacons to alert the campus community where and when necessary, public safety can be confident that the campus is prepared to respond in any emergency.

K-12 School Districts

With one Alertus Notification Beacon in each school administrative or principal's office, school safety leaders have the confidence that their district is well prepared to respond to imminent threats and during a crisis situation.  The siren and strobes immediately capture the attention of staff whether they are on a telephone call, not continuously monitoring email, or a power outage occurs.  Each beacon has buttons for schools to acknowledge receipt and silence their Alertus Notification Beacon.

In addition to facing weather and terrorism threats, many military installations stock hazards materials.  Depending on base configuration and existing communication infrastructure, placing between one and several beacons in each building and outdoors provides the capability to disseminate critical information to targeted areas or corridors in any emergency.
